How to connect Perfect Wiki to ChatGPT.
- 1In ChatGPT settings, turn on Developer mode. It's available on the web for Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu plans.
- 2Add a custom MCP connector named Perfect Wiki with the server URL
https://api.perfectwiki.xyz/mcpand choose OAuth as the authentication method. ChatGPT registers itself with Perfect Wiki, so there's no client ID to enter. - 3A Perfect Wiki window opens — sign in, choose the access level and the knowledge bases ChatGPT can use, and click Allow access.
- 4In a conversation, open the + menu, choose Developer mode and enable Perfect Wiki — then ask away, for example “What’s our travel expense policy?”

Custom MCP connectors need developer mode, which is available on the web for ChatGPT Plus, Pro, Business, Enterprise and Edu. In Business, Enterprise and Edu workspaces an admin may need to allow it. Without developer mode, you can still use the classic Perfect Wiki GPT for read-only answers.
No. ChatGPT connectors only support OAuth sign-in — there is no option for a static token or custom headers. You sign in with your Perfect Wiki account and approve access on the consent screen.
The MCP connector works in your regular ChatGPT conversations, uses OAuth sign-in, and can read, create and update pages. The Perfect Wiki GPT is a separate GPT from the store that answers read-only questions about your knowledge base.
Only the ones you choose. On the consent screen, pick all knowledge bases you can access or only selected ones, and Read only or Read & write. ChatGPT never reaches a knowledge base you can’t open in Perfect Wiki. To change the selection later, reconnect the connector.
Uploaded files are a snapshot: they go stale the moment a policy changes, and they stay in one chat or project. Through the MCP server, ChatGPT reads the current version of your SOPs and FAQs from Perfect Wiki every time, links to the source page, and only reaches the knowledge bases you connect.
Only if you allow it. When you sign in with OAuth you choose Read only or Read & write on the consent screen, and writes only work in knowledge bases where you can edit. Legacy API tokens always have full access to their one knowledge base. Most MCP clients also ask for your confirmation before running a tool that writes.
Yes, with a single connection. When you sign in, choose all knowledge bases you can access (including ones you get access to later) or only the ones you select. ChatGPT can search across all of them at once and has to name the target knowledge base for every change. API tokens cover one knowledge base each, so add one server entry per token.
The Perfect Wiki MCP server only forwards the requests ChatGPT makes. Tool results — the pages and answers it fetches — are passed to the model as part of the conversation and handled under your AI provider's data policy.
