This is an early alpha. We’re still working on it, so some steps may need a nudge. Your video stays in your browser; to suggest a title and write the steps, it sends your step screenshots to the OpenAI API: OpenAI doesn’t train on them and keeps them for up to 30 days to monitor abuse.Suggest an improvement →
How it works

How to turn a video into an SOP

  1. 1

    Upload your video

Drop in a screen recording of the task: a Loom, a Teams or Zoom recording, an OBS or QuickTime capture.

  2. 2

    Mark the steps

Press Enter at each step as the video plays back. That exact frame becomes the screenshot, with the click circled.

  3. 3

    AI writes the SOP

It suggests a title and writes each instruction in your language. Blur anything private, then download PDF or Word.

What you get

A step-by-step SOP with screenshots

A real SOP made with Perfect Wiki from a screen recording of Outlook on the web: 5 steps, each click circled, the inbox and the sender’s address blurred. This is the PDF exactly as it came out.

Why use this video to SOP generator

Your video isn’t uploaded. You don’t sign up.

Your video stays on your computer

It’s read right in your browser, never uploaded. Only the step screenshots go to the AI, with blurred areas pixelated, and we don’t keep them.

Any screen recording

Loom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, OBS, QuickTime or the Windows Snipping Tool: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV.

The screenshot you meant

You pick each step as the video plays back, so the screenshot is exactly that frame. Playback skips the still parts and slows down around clicks.

Blur what’s private

Drag over names, emails or customer records to pixelate them, copy the blur to the next steps in one click, and crop to what matters.

No sign-up, nothing to install

No account, no extension, no desktop app. Open this page in Chrome or Edge and drop in a video.

Ready to share, in 29 languages

Download PDF or Word, paste it into any document, or save it to Perfect Wiki. The AI writes the steps in your language.

No video yet? Record your screen with the free AI SOP generator instead: it records right in this browser.

Questions about the video to SOP generator

What is a video to SOP generator?
A tool that turns a screen recording of a task into a standard operating procedure: numbered steps, each with a screenshot and a written instruction. Here you mark the steps as your video plays back, each frame you pick becomes a screenshot with the pointer circled, and AI writes the instructions.
Which videos work?
Screen recordings from Loom, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, OBS, QuickTime, the Windows Snipping Tool and most other recorders: MP4, MOV, WebM or MKV files with H.264, VP8, VP9 or AV1 video, up to 30 minutes. HEVC works if your computer can play it. If a file doesn’t open, export it as MP4 (H.264) first.
Is my video uploaded?
No. Your browser reads the video on your computer and keeps it there until you close the tab; the PDF and Word files are built on your computer too. To write the steps, the AI gets the screenshots of your steps only, with any areas you blurred already pixelated. They go through our server to the OpenAI API for that one request and we don’t keep them. OpenAI doesn’t use API data to train its models and keeps it for up to 30 days to monitor abuse.
How do I mark the steps?
Once the video is read, it plays back. Press Enter (or Capture step) each time it shows a step: exactly that frame becomes the screenshot, with the pointer circled. Playback skips the parts where nothing changes and slows down around clicks; pause it to pick a moment precisely.
What makes a good video for an SOP?
One task per video, the mouse pointer visible (the circle goes on it), and a short pause before each click. Record at full resolution if you can, and turn off auto-zoom effects (some recorders zoom in on clicks), which make every frame change.
Do I need to narrate the video?
No. The AI writes the steps from the screenshots, and the sound isn’t used.
Can I edit the SOP?
Yes. Before you download it, you go through every step: pick another moment for its screenshot, move the circle, blur personal data, crop, and change the description. You can also remove, reorder and add steps.
Is it really free?
Yes. No sign-up and no watermark on the steps. The PDF and Word files have a small “Made with Perfect Wiki” line in the footer.
Which browsers work?
Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge on Windows, macOS or Linux. Phones can’t run it yet.
